List each participle or participial phrase in the following sentences. In parentheses, write the noun or pronoun it modifies.

1. Smiling, he walked slowly toward the podium.

2. Digging carefully, the archaeologist uncovered a valuable pre-Columbian cup.

3. The tiny river meandering through the foothills bubbled its way toward the plain.
